Justin Bieber is at the centre of a lawsuit after a woman claimed he is the father of her three-month-old baby girl.

According to US magazine Star, 20-year-old Mariah Yeater alleges that the pair met backstage at one of the teen pop sensation's concerts back in October 2010.

She has since filed a paternity lawsuit against Bieber, asking the singer for financial support.

A spokesperson for the 17-year-old star told TMZ:

"While we haven't yet seen the lawsuit, it's sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory, and demonstrably false claims.

"We will vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to defend and protect Justin against these allegations."

Justin has since commented on the reports himself via his Twitter page, posting:

"So I'm going to ignore the rumours and focus on what is real. An opportunity to help by doing what I love. Judge me on the music!"

Bieber is set to perform at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Belfast on 6 November.

He's also due to turn the Christmas lights on at two shopping centres in London next week.
