Traffic in different countries is noticeably getting worst and worst every year. Although the increase in number of vehicles can be considered one of the factors, another reason to be blamed is lack of discipline on the part of people behind the wheels. Everybody just wants to get ahead of everybody. This leads to more aggressive driving that often cause road accidents.
Below are better motoring tips to keep in mind not just to keep yourself and your passenger safe but also to do your part in improving the standard of car driving in your country.
- Act as a mature driver. Give and take can go along way especially during heavy traffic. Instead of trying other cars from creeping in from the side roads, give way. Believe me, such action will not keep you from getting to your destination faster. Also, avoid changing lanes too often. Based on experience, if you stick on your lane especially during heavy traffic, you’ll get to your destination probably around the same time you would if you drive aggressively. The good news though is that you can save yourself from stress and anxiety.
- Observe speed limits. Most people get into car accidents because they turn highways into car speedway. Even if you’re in a rush, it is very important that you observe speed limit as this is one way to keep you and other car drivers on the road safe. Instead of trying to get to your destination in half the time, why not allot more time on the road? If going to your office for example usually takes 1 hour, leave the house at least 1 ½ hours before. This way, there will be no need for you to hurry.
- Give signals before you take action. Give signal plenty of time before you take action to let other drivers know what you’re going to do. This gives them the opportunity to avoid moving into your path without warning.
