BBC’s Stuart Hall charged with indecent assault on girls
Sports reporter Stuart Hall receives charges relating to three accounts of indecent assault

The BBC Sports reporter Stuart Hall, aged 82, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with three counts of indecent assault, allegedly relating to girls aged 9 to 16.
The BBC Radio 5 Live correspondent, responsible for weekend match reports, was arrested at his home in Cheshire on Wednesday morning. Charges were pressed against him on Wednesday night.
It is understood that he has been linked to alleged offences that occurred between 1974 and 1984.
Lancashire Police, who took Mr. Hall in for questioning, said in a statement: “Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service an 82-year-old man has today been charged with three offences of indecent assault.”
The statement added: “He has been released without charge on the allegation of rape and a further allegation of indecent assault.”
Mr. Hall has been bailed and is expected to appear before Preston magistrates early January, 2013.
With a broadcasting career that stretches back over the past five decades, Mr. Hall is known to millions of football fans for his reporting. He has also hosted popular TV show A Question of Sport.
Mr. Hall was also a former presenter of the 1970s show It's A Knockout, which helped him on his rise to fame.
Gary Glitter and Freddie Starr are two others bailed over sex allegations, with their cases being linked to the Metropolitan Police's Operation Yewtree. This came to light following sex allegations relating to Jimmy Savile.
