A sequel to the hugely successful Avengers Assemble has been confirmed by Disney.
Studio executives have confirmed that there will be another instalment of the Marvel superhero series, which opened to a record breaking £200million at the US Box Office.
Deadline is reporting that Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that a sequel is already underway, adding that the filmÂ’s success "is a great illustration of why we like Marvel so much".
The Avengers Assemble features an all-star cast, including Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans.
The film's director, Joss Whedon, and cast recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the movie, airing their views on which character was the most isolated:
Downey Jr joked:
"Hawkeye, it's got to be Hawkeye. See, the problem is buried so deep. His origin story is horrible. It's nothing but trauma."
Before Whedon had his say:
"We are all isolated; we are all dealing with our own problems and these... characters all have these problems.
The beauty of the thing is when they realise that not only does that not matter in the bigger scheme, but the way to work those problems out is to subsume themselves to something that matters more.
The Avengers Assemble is in cinemas now.
