Red Frog Digital, a Salford-based company specialising in augmented reality, has created Zombie HoloMaze, the world’s first horror attraction. It is set to make its debut at PrimEvil in Norfolk this Halloween.
Featuring a mix of horror maze and an escape room, the attraction has been designed to give visitors the terrifying challenge of having to fend off hordes of zombies while wearing a headset with AR glasses.
Armed with a head-mounted shotgut to dispatch the dead, users are given limited time to explore the maze and find a secret antidote while fighting zombies and avoiding trap doors and a host of terrifying blockades and undead creatures. If they are unable to find the antidote in a given timeframe, they will be trapped in the maze forever and join the zombie prison population.
James Loveridge, commercial director at Red Frog Digital, said: “With augmented reality at the forefront of technology, we thought it be amazing to add an extra layer to human actors from traditional Scare Mazes with incredibly detailed 3D holograms. Our HoloMaze effectively transports guests inside of a video game, blurring the lines between real and virtual terror.”
