Andrea Begley has won the final of this year’s series of The Voice on BBC one. The 27-year-old from Pomeroy, County Tyrone, was described by her mentor, Danny O’Donoghue as “an inspiration.”
Andrea, who said that she “never, ever, ever could have imagined” winning the contest, told her supporters: "I will try my best to put your vote to good use."
Andrea’s win maybe a surprised for some as Leah McFall has supposedly been the bookmakers’ favourite. However, she did not get enough vote to defeat Andrea for her renditions of I Will Always Love You and Loving You.
Will.i.am, who was the mentor of McFall, took to Twitter to express his shock. He called the results as “unexplainable.” He added that he is “perplexed” and “so sad.”
Begley said that she understood Will.i.am. She said: "I had a good chat with Will afterwards. Every coach is 110% behind their act and Will was definitely very much from the get-go behind Leah, and I'm not surprised that he said that.”
