All You Need to Know About the Indian Premier League
The 14th IPL season started in India, but will resume in UAE after suspension due to Covid. Find out when IPL cricket will resume and our predictions.

The Indian Premier League is the biggest cricket competition in the world and the most popular betting event as well. The IPL started in 2008 when Lalit Modi – the vice president of the BCCI at the time – founded the tournament after India’s national team won the 2007 World T20. After this win, cricket rose significantly in popularity and nowadays cricket in India is immensely popular.
The IPL is a T20 cricket tournament that takes place over seven weeks every year in March, April, and May. Eight teams, each representing a city in India, compete for the title in the tournament. The way the participating teams are chosen by franchises who acquire players through an annual player auction. Most players get signed through the auction and join the franchise that bids the highest for them. At the end of every IPL season, the franchise then decides whether they will release or renew that player’s contract.
Out of 12 seasons, the Mumbai Indians have been one of the most successful teams of all time, having won the IPL four times. After the Mumbai Indians, the Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders are considered the second and third most successful teams respectively, both winning the IPL twice.
The 14th season of the IPL 2021 – From India to UAE
This year, the first match of the 14th season of the IPL 2021 started in April with the Mumbai Indians played against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening match. The Royal Challengers Bangalore won the opening match, but let’s take a closer look at how this 2021 IPL is shaping up.
The first matches of the IPL 2021 started in India but it was suspended on the 4th of May due to the second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic in India. With players falling ill, the tournament was suspended after 29 matches. As a result, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided that the rest of the IPL tournament matches will be returning in UAE because of the upcoming monsoon season between September and October in India.
The planned date for the IPl tournament to resume in the UAE is the 19th of September, with the final set to take place on the 15th of October which is also the day of the Dussehra festival in India.
IPL 2021 Predictions – Who is Predicted to Win the IPL in 2021?
Out of the matches played so far, the Delhi Capitals are currently at the top of the ranks with 12 points and six wins out of eight games they have played so far. In second place are the Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, both of which have 10 points. Both have won five out of seven matches played. The winners of the 2019 and 2020 IPL tournaments, the Mumbai Indians, are currently ranked in fourth place with eight points and four wins out of seven matches.
The Biggest Betting Event in the Country
The Indian Premier League is the biggest and most important betting event in India, with thousands of cricket fans heading to sports betting sites to place their bets on the team they think will win. Besides betting on the outright winner who will ultimately take the title, people also bet on the IPL top batsman, the top bowler, and on which teams will make the playoffs.
The odds are bound to fluctuate and change once the IPL resumes in September, but the prediction is that the majority of fans will put their money on the Mumbai Indians who won the IPL twice in a row in 2019 and 2020.
Who is the Strongest Team in this Year’ Competition?
The IPL prediction for this year is that the Mumbai Indians will once again win this year’s IPL, with the current odds for the team standing at 3.25. The Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Delhi Capitals, and the Chennai Super Kings are the three strongest contenders for the title after the Mumbai Indians, with odds of 4.00, 5.00, and 7.50 respectively.
The team that is predicted the least likely to win this year’s tournament is currently the Punjab Kings (formerly known as the Kings XI Punjab), with odds of 17.00. The Mumbai Indians are currently the favourite with several of the major bookies, but once the IPL resumes and another couple of rounds of fixtures are played, this can easily change, especially considering that the Chennai Super Kings are very close to the Mumbai Indians in terms of odds.
