-How to start with the paint by number kit?
The process as mentioned earlier is fairly simple. We have compiled a concise list of just 10 steps that you can follow and you will rock Paint by Number Kit in no time.
- Clean your workplace and remove all stuff that you do not want to see soiled with paint stains.
- Empty the package and take all supplies out of the box.
- Spread your canvas on the table and make sure that all creases or folds are stretched out. You can iron the canvas or place it under a few heavy books for straightening it.
- Keep some clean paper towels and a cup of water nearby. Anytime you need to move from one paint pot to another, clean your bristles with water and wipe off any excess moisture on the paper towel. Remember that your brush needs to be damp, not wet.
- Next, prime your canvas with gesso. Gesso is an acrylic based medium that allows the paints to adhere to the canvas efficiently. You can proceed without gesso, but it is sensible to pursue the primer step. White paints and gesso aren’t similar. Transparent glue and gesso aren’t similar either.
Let your gesso to dry and then proceed with the paints. It is advised to mark the borders with white pencils for ease of navigation. Work with one paint pot at a time. This will ensure that all your paints would not dry at once.
- If you are a left-hander, move from the right side of the board towards the left and work from the top to the bottom of the board
Similarly, if you are a right-hander, work your way through the left to the right side of the canvas moving from top to bottom.
- As a general rule of thumb, transition from darker to lighter shades.
- Don’t be too generous with your paints. You do not want to exhaust your paint supplies before your painting reaches its climax, do you? Just use the tip of your brush, dip it sparsely in the paint pot and apply gentle strokes. When you dip the whole brush inside, you will not be able to get a precise stroke, besides a lot of paint near the handle of your brush will go wasted. The quality of your brush will also deteriorate over time due to clogged paint in it. If you use your paint sensibly, you will be left with a considerable amount at the end, which can be used for touch-ups and creating new freehand masterpieces off your own.
- Now that you are done painting, let it dry. After drying you might notice some vacant spots which can be filled using a toothpick of precision. Again give it ample time to dry.
- You can frame your masterpiece and enjoy the vibrancy of its colors. Drill a few holes on the wall and hang it there, but if you are not interested in making it a permanent spot, use double-sided tape or reusable glue pads and stick your painting on the wall.
So guys here we are, we have addressed all your queries and now you too can come up with a masterpiece of your own without any lingering fears. Good luck.
