All over the Spice
Music
13:30 12 July 2005
The Spice Girls are making music for the first time in seven years - millions of miles apart.
The five girls are recording new songs in different studios all over the world.
The bizarre arrangement comes after the girls couldn't agree where to meet, according to Britain's The Sun newspaper.
The group were also said to be fuming after Mel B scuppered their plans for a comeback at the London leg of the Live 8 charity concerts by refusing to perform.
Currently Mel C and Emma Bunton are recording in London, Geri Halliwell in France, Victoria Beckham in Madrid, Spain, and Mel B in Los Angeles.
The new songs will be mixed together to make it sound as if the performances all happened in one place.
A source revealed: "The girls are in different countries and couldn't agree on a place to meet. There's tension after Mel B refused to make a comeback for Live 8. So they agreed to get on with recording separately.
"It's early stages. The girls won't release anything if it doesn't sound right - but they are hoping for the best."
