While the romance between pub landlord Alfie Moon and fellow EastEnder Kat Moon (formerly Slater) has captivated a nation, it seems he spends little time dwelling on it.

Just days after his pregnant wife leaves him, Alfie hooks up with a new woman.

The puppy-faced publican even goes as far as slipping his wedding ring into his pocket to get to grips with pretty blonde Miranda.

An Albert Square source told The Sun: "Kat has only just walked out but Alfie quickly starts feeling sorry for himself.

"He goes out to drown his sorrows, and meets Miranda - who makes it clear she wants more."

Alfie, played by entertainer Shane Richie, meets Miranda after a string of fights sees Kat leave him.

Viewers will get to see the rebound action when scenes are aired on October 8th.
