Alexa now allows you to make phone calls.

The new versions of Amazon Echo and Echo Plus offer an interesting new feature – they now allow you to make voice calls as well as send messages.
To use the new feature, simply say Alexa and the phone number that you’re calling. You can also tell Alexa to call anybody in your phone’s address book as long as you have allowed access to it when installed the Alexa app. The person you’re calling will see your mobile phone number as the caller ID.
Another new feature, called Drop In, is intended for calling relatives and checking in on them with video or voice calling. For those with multiple Echos or Echo dots around the house, this feature can be used as an intercom system. For example, while in the kitchen, you can check in on kids in their bedroom to know what they’re doing or to tell them that dinner is ready.
Amazon has also introduced Echo Connect, the $35 device that works with your landline so Alexa can make phone calls for you. Using Alexa, it turns your home phone into a smart, hands-free speakerphone.
