When you are working on a webinar, it’s important that you approach your subject with enthusiasm, interest and passion. That way you can maintain your audience and grow in popularity. Unfortunately, there are a number of pitfalls that you may accidently dip into during your time as a webinar creator. That’s why it’s important to do your research beforehand to avoid making mistakes in front of your public. Here are some tips on what you should avoid when you are making a webinar.
- Try not to speak too much about yourself.
Now, when you own your own online webinar platform or have your own channel, you should try and avoid bragging too much about who you have worked with and what you have done. Unfortunately, your viewers are most likely not there to see you. Instead, they are there to learn about what you have to say. They have already read your description and know what you are going to talk about. So, avoid any long-winded speeches or repeating the topic of your stream.
- Make sure you are prepared for your webinar
One of the worst things that you can do before starting a webinar is to be unprepared. As you are the host, you have a lot of responsibility on your shoulders. Make sure to plan each and every webinar in advance to ensure that everything is working correctly and that you know precisely what you’re going to say. This includes practicing with your technology and any PowerPoint presentations that you have. If you are worried about the quality of your stream, you can invite a friend to join you and let you know any feedback they may have about your stream.
- Do not ignore your audience
In the middle of your webinar, it can be tempting to simply focus on your presentation and the facts that you are going to be presenting to your audience. If you are planning on doing that, you should avoid live streaming and record a video instead. You will find that during the livestream, you will get a wide variety of people asking questions and interacting with each other. To get involved without getting distracted, you can set up a system to have questions come in quickly and efficiently. You may also want to consider setting up a starting poll. That way you can start your webinar off with an interactive way of getting your audience involved.
- Too much promotion
No one likes a salesperson. You will find that if you are too blunt with your sales pitch, or keep on interrupting your webinar to sell a product to your audience, they will switch off and will most likely not return to your future webinars. Keep your webinars about your topic and only change to a sales pitch if you know it will help your audience. Remain factual and you will find it easier to engage your audience and make sure they enjoy the time spent in your webinar.
And there you have it - four things that you definitely should avoid including in your webinar to ensure you are a cut above the rest.
