70-year-old farmer brutally beaten by an intruder
Robert Withers who almost lose his eye after being brutally beaten by an intruder also suffered from broken nose and arm.

70-year-old Robert Withers was brutally beaten by an intruder after their confrontation on the former’s own land. Narrowly avoiding being blinded, he was battered around the head and suffered from broken nose. He also had stitches to two deep cuts above his right eye.
Det Sgt Leighton Shingles, from Force CID, said: “The farmer’s injuries were so severe, that at one point doctors feared he may lose an eye.
“Fortunately he is making a steady recovery.”
The attacker was described as a stocky white man in his early forties.
He wore a hat, dark sleeveless bomber jacket, check shirt and dark trousers.
Det Sgt Shingles added: “We are appealing to anyone who may have seen this man acting suspiciously in the area to contact us as soon as possible.”
