What if you didn't know how to get out of a frozen TV screen? Here are 6 things you didn't know about your TV that will make you want to take care of this precious piece of machinery!
1. Reprogramming Your TV
If you've ever lost your TV remote, or just want to reprogram it to work with a different TV, you can do so by pressing the following buttons. On most remotes, the power button will double as a universal remote control reset button. Hold the power button down for about 10 seconds until the remote resets. If not, you can look at some tricks to program a DIRECTV remote to Vizio TV, so you can watch your favorite channels. Another great hack for reprogramming your TV with your remote is to use the codes for your cable box. By pressing the mute, volume up, and volume down buttons on your remote, you can enter the corresponding code for your cable box. Once you have the right code entered in, your TV remote will be able to control not only the TV but also the cable box.
2. Types of Television Screens
There are three main types of television screens: standard definition, high definition, and ultra-high definition. Standard definition TVs have a resolution of 720 horizontal lines, while high definition TVs have a resolution of 1080 horizontal lines. Ultra-high-definition TVs have a resolution of 3840x2160 horizontal lines, which is four times the resolution of high definition TVs! The definition will also impact the price of the TV because the higher the resolution, the more expensive the TV will be.
3. TV Screen Hacks
If your TV screen is ever cracked or broken, don't worry! You can fix it yourself by using some simple tools and supplies that you probably already have at home. All you need is some adhesive plastic, an X-Acto knife, and some heavy-duty tape. First, clean the screen and use a ruler to measure and cut your plastic pieces. Then place each piece on the TV and apply pressure with your fingertips to ensure that it sticks firmly in place. Finally, wrap the edges of your broken screen with duct or masking tape, then use another piece of tape over the top for extra reinforcement! Or, if your TV screen ever freezes, and you don't know how to get out of it, don't worry! All you have to do is hold down the power button on the remote control until the TV turns off. Then, unplug the TV for about 10 seconds and plug it back in. Once you turn the TV back on, the screen should be unfrozen.
4. The Length of Your Television's Lifespan
The average lifespan of most televisions is about 10 years, but this all depends on how well you take care of your device. One reason for such quick deterioration is due to leaving TVs plugged in even when they are turned off. By doing so, you are slowly draining the life out of your TV and shortening its lifespan. Another common factor in television deterioration is heat. Make sure to place your TV in an area where it will be exposed to minimal sunlight and heat, and always use a surge protector to protect it from electrical surges.
5. LCD vs LED Televisions
LCD (liquid crystal display) televisions were once the most popular type of TV on the market, but they have since been replaced by LED (light-emitting diode) TVs. The main difference between these two types of TVs is that LEDs use less energy and produce a brighter picture. If you're trying to decide between an LCD or LED TV, go with the latter! You'll save on your electricity bill, and you'll get a better deal, as LED TVs are becoming more and more popular. If you're not happy with the picture quality of your television, there are a few things you can do to improve it. First, make sure that your TV is in the right place – it should be facing either north or south for optimal viewing. Second, adjust the contrast and brightness settings on your TV until you're happy with the picture. Third, try using a different type of cable to connect your TV to the wall. HDMI cables are usually the best option, as they provide the clearest picture and sound. Finally, if all else fails, consider buying a new TV!
6. Advanced TV Hacks
Now that you know about some of the basic things you can do with your TV, what else can be done? Try focusing on one element of your television at a time. For example, if it's off but still plugged in then try unplugging it for a few seconds or just pressing different buttons on the remote to see what happens. Another useful tip is to try touching the screen while watching a movie on mute – does it work? Have fun tinkering around with all the different parts of your TV! Do you have problems with your TV remote control? If it's not working, the first thing you should do is check the batteries. If they're low or dead, that's probably why the remote isn't responding. If the batteries are fine, then try syncing the remote with your TV. To do this, press and hold the power button on the remote until the light starts flashing. Then, find the code for your TV brand in the manual and type it in. If all else fails, you can always buy a new remote control!
