5G Smartphone Battery Life
5G smartphones will have longer battery life, says Qualcomm.

In 2019, 5G-ready smartphones will make their way to the market and Qualcomm says they won’t nuke your battery. The firm expects the transition to 5G to be less painful than the 3G/4G switch. Thus, users do not have to wait for second generation phones to get decent battery life.
5G is an exciting technology that promises a lot of new experiences. Users are looking forward to taking advantage of upload and download speeds that are up to 10 times faster than 4G. 5G will make this happen by using millimeter wave frequencies, which can transmit a lot of data but don’t have a lot of range.
Qualcomm's Peter Carson also hopes that wireless carriers will offer unlimited data plans. He said that the new network will "change the economics," delivering a lot of cheap capacity to carriers and "feeding the demand for unlimited data plans.”
Peter Carson added that 5G networks will rely on 4G for their control layers in the beginning. 4G will still be the default jumping up to 5G only when there is a need for faster speeds or lower latency.
