12:49 12 July 2021
CK Hutchinson Networks UK has submitted proposals to build a 20-metre 5G mast consisting of a cabinet and ancillary equipment to Darlington Borough Council.
If approved, the mast will be situated on a grass verge at the roundabout at Albert Hill. It would provide an upgraded mobile network service in the area.
The planning statement reads: "CK Hutchinson Networks UK is committed to providing improved network coverage. In these times of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is recognised that high-speed mobile connectivity is the lifeblood of a community. Concerns were raised by Darlington Borough Councillors as to the location of the proposed mast and alternative locations were investigated, however we believe the best possible location has been chosen to ensure the most effective connectivity for Darlington."
