5G Liverpool Neighbourhood

A simulated version of a Liverpool neighbourhood will be used to plan a more cost effective way to deploy a 5G technology network at scale.

The Liverpool 5G Health and Social Care Testbed programme will be using a simulated version of a Liverpool neighbourhood to determine the best location for mesh networks as part its plan to rollout a 5G networking platform in the city. The programme's goal is to improve health and social care services across the city using Internet of Things (IOT) and other advanced technologies.

 

Created by CGA Simulation, Kensington neighbourhood’s 'digital twin' will help project leaders to identify the best location for mesh networks before they mount street furniture in the area. The network will be designed to provide an affordable, multi-gigabit Wi-Fi connectivity to allow residents and healthcare providers to access innovative health applications and use health and social care resources more efficiently.

 

The trial, which uses AI, sensors, virtual reality, robotics and the Internet of Things technology, involves the use of a device that connects vulnerable people at home to a pharmacy via a video link, ambient Internet of Things sensors that monitor falls and dehydration for older adults and augmented reality technology to bridge physical distance and combat social isolation.
