Following the footsteps of other UK mobile networks, Sky Mobile has announced that it launched its own 5G network in January. The service is now available in London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Leicester, Slough, Lisburn, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Glasgow, Bradford, Sheffield, Nottingham, Coventry, Norwich, Bristol, Stoke, and Derby.
To take advantage of the service, customers require a 5G-enabled phone and sim card. Currently, there are only a few phones that are 5G enabled but as the technology becomes available in more cities and town, the number is likely to grow throughout the year.
5G-enabled handsets that are currently available in the market are Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G, and Samsung Galaxy A90 5G handset. Other 5G handsets that have been brought to market include the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G.
Sky’s move followed the launch of 5G network of other UK providers, namely EE, BT, Three, Vodafone and O2.
