The difference between a job and a career is that a job is usually just a means to make a living, but a career is something that you plan to do for the rest of your life. It involves having a passion for what it is you do. A career-minded person is often intent on climbing the ladder to new and challenging roles within their chosen field. If you are at the point of seeking ways to advance within your chosen career, have you thought about leveraging technology?
1. Collaboration
One way professionals are better able to advance within their career is to collaborate on innovative processes or products. Not only will they gain recognition within their field, but so too will the other professionals collaborating with them. This is often done online and quite often the other professionals you collaborate with are in other cities and even other countries.
2. Advancing Your Degree Online
Gone are the days when professionals seeking a graduate degree had to leave their current place of employment to study. Most graduate degrees are now offered online and by taking courses online at your convenience, you can continue working at your place of employment without taking that education sabbatical. This is quite often the case when RNs study to be Family Nurse Practitioners. One well-respected university is the University of Texas Arlington. UTA offers FNP programs for nurses in which they can continue working as an RN until they gain a certain level of autonomy with that graduate degree.
3. Online Research
It seems that you can do almost anything online these days. Often research is involved when working to advance in your career and what could make it easier and faster to gather data for analysis than the speed of the internet? Whether you are researching the mating practices of the tsetse fly or tracking the movement of the Omicron variant of Covid, there is nothing better suited to collecting data than the World Wide Web.
4. Time Management
There are a number of time management platforms online that you can sync with your mobile phones. Whether you are in the office or on the road, these software programs can notify you of an appointment you are about to be late for. Time management software can help you block out hours for tasks that need to be handled daily as well. Being organized is the key to success and if you are seeking to advance in your career, time management is an absolute must.
5. Better Exposure in Your Field
Finally, if you want to advance to the very top of your career, it will take a significant amount of exposure, and what better way to gain that exposure than online? Perhaps one example might be how Thomas Edison was credited with so many things that were actually the ideas of Nikolai Tesla. It just seems that Edison’s connections made it possible to ignore Tesla because of all the press Edison got and still gets to this day.
You can thank technology for so many things when it comes to advancing in your career, but the bottom line is that you should leverage technology in any way possible if you want to climb to the very top.
