4 Must-Do’s to Complete Before Converting Your Home to Solar Power
Solar power is a viable option for any home or business owner, but there are at least four things you should do first.

Many people think about solar power as a means to decreasing the cost of utility bills. This sure is a great way to accomplish that goal, and also provides a more eco-friendly energy solution.
In order to make sure you are getting the most of our your investment though, there are a few factors you will want to check or change before making the switch to solar energy.
1) Check your wall insulation. Make sure you have some, and if not, try having some insulation installed. It will help keep your home cool in the summer and warmer in the winter, which means your solar energy will be more effective.
2) Double-check loft insulation. See if your insulation in the loft needs to be upgraded or redone. If you do not have any loft insulation,it is like throwing money away. Definitely do this before switching to solar power.
3) Ensure your windows and doors are well fitted. If you can swing double-glazed windows, it is a great investment. Cracks or gaps in your home’s construction can inflate your utility bills significantly.
4) Make sure you have an efficient boiler. One of the most significant impacts to your utility bills will be water heating, so if you have an efficient boiler and are able to hook it to solar power, your savings will stretch even further.
If your main goal in switching to solar power is to reduce the cost of your utility bills, you will not want to ignore those four considerations above. Some of these you may be able to take care of yourself, but others need to be handled by professionals.
