Even if you’ve been camping many times before, there are some steps that you can take to make the experience easier on yourself while you’re roughing it in the great outdoors. Check out the four camping tips below so you can make your next trip a smoother one.
1. Prepare as Much of Your Food at Home
You should pack plenty of food and drinks for your upcoming camping trip, but to make it easier on you once you arrive at your destination, prep as many of your meals at home as you can, as you’ll have access to running water and other conveniences. Cut, chop, peel, and prepare everything that you possibly can so it will be ready to cook or eat as soon as you settle down for your meal. Then make sure you don’t forget to bring plenty of utensils, not only for eating, but also for cooking your meals. While your KRUDO knives might be great for emergencies, you may not want to use them for your food, so bring plenty of clean knives, forks, and spoons.
2. Bring Along Some Tarps
In addition to your sleeping bags and tents, you also should bring along a couple of large tarps that you can use to provide additional shelter if it ends up raining during your next camping trip. A properly set up tarp will be great for protecting you from the rain as you enjoy the fire, cook, and spend time with your group outside of your tents. After all, if it starts to rain, you’ll quickly get really bored sitting inside your tents, so you’ll be happy to have a tarp to sit under instead.
3. Pack Your Clothes in a Smart Way
Pack your clothes in a way that will prevent them from getting dirty before you even have a chance to change into them. Start by putting together a single outfit that you would wear for a day, and then roll it all up, keeping the smallest items (like your underwear and socks) on the inside of the roll. Once your outfit is totally rolled up neatly, simply use a rubber band or two to secure it. Then, when you’re ready to get dressed during your camping trip, all you have to do is unroll your outfit and you’ll have everything you need.
4. Create a Hand Washing Station
When hand sanitizer simply won’t cut it, you’ll want to wash your hands with soap and water, but this can be easier said than done during a camping trip. Knowing how to set up a hand washing station will ensure you’re able to stay clean with ease. Fill up an old laundry detergent bottle with water and then place a roll of paper towels and a refillable soap dispenser on a table with a bucket to catch the soapy water.
With the simple tips above, you can save time, effort, and frustration during your next camping trip, whether you’re headed off on a solo retreat or you’re planning a getaway into the great outdoors with family or friends.
