3D Printing to Transform Manufacturing

3D printing could transform manufacturing, HP boss claims.

HP is pushing towards with its 3D printing operations as it continues to target disruption in the £10trillion global manufacturing market.

 

 

George Brasher, managing director of HP’s UK and Ireland division, believes 3D printing would be “as impactful as the internet”.

 

He said: “You’re able to 3D print on demand, you have a faster turnaround time and your minimums will go way down.

 

“It creates a great opportunity – our 3D printer actually creates almost half of the parts that are on the printer today.”

 

The IT firm, which clients include BMW, Nike and Volkswagen, says that 3D printing is much more cost effective than traditional production lines if the manufacturer is producing few than 55,000 parts.
