Once a victim of a brutal beating by the LA Police in 1991 which led to one of Los Angeles's biggest riots, Rodney King, was found dead at the bottom of his swimming pool after a heavy dose of drugs and alcohol this morning. 

 

His fiancee, Cynthia Kelley phoned the police at 5:25 am for help after discovering her fiance's situation at their home in Rialto, California. Upon arrival, the police dived into the pool to get a hold of the victim who had once become the symbol of racial differences due to the police. Regardless of performing CPR, Rodney was unable to regain conscious. He was pronounced dead at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center at 6:11 am. 

 

The police have not yet been able to establish his main cause of death. Police Captain Randy DeAnda said, "We will wait for the autopsy results to determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved". Another report suggests that he may have drowned.
