Airplane WiFi
Cathay Pacific Group to offer in-flight WiFi in 2018.
19:57 20 November 2017
The Cathay Pacific Group is the latest airline carrier to offer inflight WiFi, installing Gogo’s 2Ku, a satellite-based broadband connectivity, on its planes starting in 2018.
In a press release, Paul Loo, Cathay Pacific Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, said: "Our goal is to allow our customers to be connected anytime and anywhere – and this agreement with Gogo is a huge step in enabling us to deliver this,"
Meanwhile, Emirate has announced it will offer 50Mbps connectivity on some of its fleet by 2020. The service will allow its passengers to experience WiFi speeds that are only really needed for frequent downloading of large files.
But Emirates is all about offering more than what is needed. It already provides unlimited complimentary WiFi to its first class and business class frequent flyer customers, and 20 MB of free WiFi to economy passengers.
