5G Plans for Norwich

CK Hutchison has formally submitted an application for a new 17m telecom pole in Heartsease Lane in the Mousehold area in Norwich. If the local authority approves the application, the mast will be built on the verge between Heartsease Lane and Borrowdale Drive.
However, Norwich City Council's highway department says that the application submitted by the telecoms company did not include a plan on how to widen the footpath to ensure that the cabinet and doors accompanying the mast did not reduce the path size.
A statement included with the application read: "The enclosed application is identified as the most suitable option that balances operational needs with local planning policies and national planning policy guidance.
"It will deliver public benefit in terms of the mobile services it will provide."
Norwich, which is lagging behind the rest of the UK for 5G connectivity, is attempting to put an end to its internet blackpots. It currently has 75 masts while similar-sized cities like Leicester and Bristol have 112 and 175, respectively.
