Price drops out of Marathon
Katie announces she won't run in Sunday's big race...
10:10 14 April 2011
Reality television star Katie Price has announced that she will not be taking part in this year's London Marathon on 17 April.
The mother-of-three has pulled out of the race due to a knee injury, but has offered to double the sponsorship money already donated by fans.
Price wrote on her official website:
"It is with great regret that I have had to pull out of this yearÂ’s London Marathon.
"IÂ’ve been training really hard, but it became apparent at the Silverstone half marathon [6th March] that my knee is not strong enough to withstand extensive runs."
Many fans have already sponsored the glamour model online, but she has promised that sponsors can either have their money back or have their donation doubled to support her brother instead.
The star was due to be running in aid of the Pituitary Foundation and the charity Vision, for which she is a patron.
Price ran the London Marathon back in 2009 with her then husband Peter Andre, despite her leg giving way halfway through.
At the time she said:
"There was no way in hell I wasn't finishing. I was in agony but [my son] Harvey's face on my T-shirt got me through. I'm proud of what I've achieved."
Yesterday, the star put aside her running woes and was spotted at Thorpe Park with new boyfriend, Leandro Penna, and The Only Way is Essex couple, Kirk Norcross and Lauren Pope.
