Bury 5G Mast Concerns
Applications for two new 5G masts have been submitted to Bury Council.

CK Hutchinson Networks UK has officially submitted plans to install two 15m high poles at the junction of Carver Avenue and Bury Old Road in Prestwich and on Manchester Road Bury.
Some residents have raised their concerns because the Carver Avenue mast in Prestwich would be too close to St Margaret's CofE Church and gardens as well as the St Margaret's Cross which was installed on the land in 2016. Meanwhile, the mast on Manchester Road will be installed in a residential area close to an industrial estate on Dumers Lane.
One resident said: “I find it offensive that plans have been put forward in such close proximity to the church, graveyard and parkland which should be a sacred place of solitude and reflection.
“Residents already tolerate excess traffic, noise and mess imposed by the numerous events that take place in the adjacent park and by local businesses who take advantage of the street.
“Furthermore the constrained cul-de-sac already struggles to cope with residential cars, so additional work vehicles would be unmanageable.”
However, CK Hutchinson says the location of new the mast will ‘assimilate well into the immediate street scene and not be detrimental.”
It continued: “The proposed site option is considered the best available compromise between extending 5G service across the target ‘coverage hole’ with the selected street works pole height and associated antenna and ground-based cabinets restricted to the minimum height which is capable of providing the required essential coverage.”
